TWYNSTA Mechanism of Action

Review the mechanism of action of TWYNSTA—A fixed-dose ARB/CCB combining telmisartan and amlodipine for the treatment of hypertension

Twynsta® (telmisartan/amlodipine) Tablets have been shown to be effective in lowering blood pressure. TWYNSTA is a combination of 2 drugs with antihypertensive properties: a dihydropyridine calcium antagonist (calcium ion antagonist or slow-channel blocker [CCB])—amlodipine besylate—and an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB)—telmisartan.

Both telmisartan and amlodipine lower blood pressure by reducing peripheral resistance, but do so through complementary mechanisms.
